Proverbs 4:18-19 The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day. But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know what makes them stumble.
Proverbs 4:18 was the first scripture that I ever memorized and holds a dear place in my heart. Close your eyes and picture the path of the righteous. It is like the breaking of dawn. As we grow in our faith walk, it gets brighter and brighter. Until, like the noon day sun, the light of Jesus radiates over all of our life. Picture that. Take a deep breath of the light of Christ. What is the feeling that comes up when you picture the path of the righteous? Have you felt this before? When?
Now picture the way of the wicked. It is a thick and dense darkness. It is gloomy and wretched. It is so dark that you cannot see your feet or the path you are walking on. You trip and stumble and don’t even know what you tripped over. Picture this path for a moment. What feelings come up as you imagine the way of the wicked? Have you ever felt this before? When?
The two paths lay in stark contrast to one another. Light and dark. “This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.” Deuteronomy 30:19. “But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.” Joshua 24:15.
Every day we have the choice. Choose you this day whom you will serve.
