2 Kings 18:19-20 The field commander said to them, “Tell Hezekiah: This is what the great king, the king of Assyria, says: On what are you basing this confidence of yours? You say you have the counsel and the might for war—but you speak only empty words. On whom are you depending, that you rebel against me?”
The Accuser of the Brethren often comes with questions that at their very core are designed to make us doubt God.
“Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” – Genesis 3:1
And here in 2 Kings, “On what are you basing this confidence of yours? … On whom are you depending, that you rebel against me?”
Any time that you try to make a stand for God, the enemy will try to make you doubt that decision. As soon as you open your mouth for Jesus, the enemy will be waiting to confront that truth with his lies. Each time you decide to believe the promises of God, the enemy will try to discredit God’s faithfulness to you.
If the voice that you hear is causing you to doubt God or His Word, you know where it came from. No matter how believable it sounds, he is the Father of Lies, don’t listen to him. Today, when you hear those accusing words, “On whom are you depending” what is your response?
