John 15: 4 – Stay Connected

No Jesus, no fruit. Know Jesus, know fruit.

John 15:4b “No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.”

Fruit need 3 things to grow: sunlight, water, and nutrients. If a branch is cut off, it cannot receive all that it needs to grow. It might still get sunshine, but it won’t get the water and nutrients that it needs to grow and ripen.

We also need three things to produce fruit in our lives: faith, hope, and love. “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13. “And without faith it is impossible to please God.” Hebrew 11:6. “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13. “Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God.” 1 John 4:7.

If I do not remain connected to Jesus, my faith weakens, my hope disappears, and my love dries up. In that state, I can’t produce anything good. How can I shine the light of Jesus if I’m not connected to the source. How can I be emptied for our Savior if I’m not being filled by Him. When I sit and wonder why there is no lasting fruit in my life, I only have to look at how close to Jesus I’ve been. There is a direct relationship. No Jesus, no fruit. Know Jesus, know fruit.
