Ephesians 3:7-9 I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God’s grace given me through the working of his power. Although I am less than the least of all the Lord’s people, this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the boundless riches of Christ, and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things.
God gives us all that we need to accomplish what He has called us to do. Large or small, your calling and mission is given to you by His power at work in you. Think of your mission statement right now. Why has God given you breath today? That mission was written on your heart by the Holy Spirit at work within you. God is doing it not us!
So why do I struggle with believing that I can have any impact on the world around me? Why do I doubt that I have what it takes? Why do I give up so easily? God is the one doing the work in me and through me to accomplish this mission. I think that we are often misguided and focus on the results instead of on the source. Our job is to stay connected to the vine, to sit at the feet of our savior, to seek first His kingdom. The vine doesn’t do anything to produce the fruit other than staying connected. We delight in the Lord and He gives us the desires of our heart. We trust in the Lord and He makes our paths straight.
I get so caught up in striving to do things. I wonder how many things I miss because my focus is on the things I could be doing instead of on the God that does things through me? God wants to show the world the boundless riches of Christ through your mission. Go ahead and let Him do it!
