Ephesians 1:17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.
Paul’s one desire was for others to know God better. It wasn’t for them to succeed, to be happy, for good health, or any of the things I find myself praying for others for. He just wanted them to know our amazing God better. I think he must have known that our real need is an intimate relationship with God and that everything else that we desire can find its fulfillment only when that core desire is met. God wants our heart because He knows the rest of who we are will follow. If God has a hold of a person’s heart, there is nothing that He can’t accomplish through that individual.
What’s your one desire for others? Is it a constant prayer of yours for them? Is it for them to grow closer to God and understand Him more fully? What about for you? What is your one desire?
Delight thyself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart (Psalms 37:4). Those who wait upon the Lord will renew their strength (Isaiah 40:31). Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you (Matthew 6:33).
Let intimacy with the All Mighty be your top priority and everything else in your life will be His top priority!
