Ephesians 1:3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.
One thing that you will notice about Paul’s letter to the Ephesians is his continual use of the phrase “in Christ”. In this case it is referring to the spiritual blessing that we have in Christ.
We, as Christians, are truly blessed by our Father in heaven. It doesn’t matter what your circumstances are, you can trust in this blessing. It’s a blessing that you can’t use up and no one can steal it from you. You might not always see it, but it is real and secure and reserved for you in heaven. As a father blesses his children, so our Father in heaven has blessed us.
This blessing has been given to us and will be given to us. It is for now and eternity. It is our access to the heavenly realms. It is the authority we’ve been given through Christ to fight this good fight and tear down every stronghold that sets itself up against the knowledge of Christ (2Corinthians 10:5).
It is a spiritual blessing. It is belonging; it is faith, hope, and love; it is eternal life; it is an inheritance stored up for us in heaven, and so much more. We’ve been given every spiritual blessing, not just one, all we need for life and godliness (2Peter 1:3).
And it is all because of Christ. In Him we have all we need. In Him we are blessed beyond measure. In Him we live and move and have our being. In Christ alone we are more than conquerors. In Christ we are one family. In Christ we have freedom and salvation and victory over death. Praise you, Lord Jesus!
