Colossians 1: 3- 4 – Love for Others

We as Christians are to be known for our love for one another.

Colossians 1:3-4 We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all God’s people

When I read these verses, I am convicted of my lack of love for others. I am so selfish. I doubt that others have ever heard of my love for God’s people. That needs to change. We as Christians are to be known for our love for one another, John 13:35 “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

I am too caught up in my own agenda. I don’t have time to help you. I’m too tired. I’m too busy. I’m full of excuses. The truth is that I want to spread God’s love to all those around me but I don’t follow through on those desires. I stop short of giving of myself. I wonder how many others stop short of loving on others?

Lord, help us to be a people willing to go the extra mile, willing to give sacrificially, willing to love unconditionally in our actions as well as our words. My flesh continues to fight against giving of myself to others. My spirit is willing though. So, help me to overcome my flesh and be an active lover of God’s people. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
