2 Kings 23:25 Neither before nor after Josiah was there a king like him who turned to the LORD as he did—with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his strength, in accordance with all the Law of Moses.
Josiah turned to the Lord “with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his strength.” Like no king before or after him, Josiah adhered to the Law of Moses, the Book of the Covenant. Josiah was a man of the Word!
Of Hezekiah, it is said that there was no other king of Judah before or after him that trusted in God like he did, 2 Kings 18:5. But for Josiah, there is none to compare to his devotion to following the word of God!
If I look at how I measure up to following what the Bible says, I’m afraid that I can’t say that I follow it with all my heart and with all my soul and with all my strength. I stop short of complete obedience far too often. I give up and give in. I get apathetic and passive. I avoid confrontation instead of standing up for what is true. How about you? How would you rate yourself in your obedience to the Word?
But I read of Josiah’s faithfulness to observe the Law and clean house in Judah, and I am encouraged to be bold for God in my world. I want to stand stronger in my faith, to be a brighter light to this dark world. How can you take Josiah’s example and use it to encourage you today?
