2 Kings 17:15 – Who Do You Follow?

You are what you eat!

2 Kings 17:15 They followed worthless idols and themselves became worthless.

Ouch! That’s a harsh statement. But so true! You know the old saying, “You are what you eat.” Well, the same goes for our spiritual health. If I choose to worship and give myself to the empty, meaningless life that this world has to offer, then I myself will feel empty and meaningless. If I spend my time and money on the things this world says are important, then I will look like and act like the world around me.

Our God wants more for us than that. Our God has an abundant, fulfilling, life giving plan for each one of us.

  • Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
  • John 10:10 “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

Jesus says, “Come, follow me.”  Follow me instead of those worthless idols. Follow me instead of what’s popular. Follow me instead of just going with the flow. Follow me because I love you. Follow me because I know the way. Follow me every day. Follow me when you feel like and when you don’t.

  • “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” Mark 8:34

Who are you following today?
