2 Corinthians 1:20 – For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ.
God does not change His mind. He doesn’t say one thing and then goes and does something else. When God makes a promise, He keeps it. No matter what. So why do I doubt Him?
At the core, my doubt is all about my inability to earn God’s love and favor. Because I didn’t do anything to earn His promises, I doubt that I will receive them. That lie is one that I’ve held onto for so long. It permeates all aspects of my life. I don’t deserve it unless I earn it.

In Christ and through Christ, all God’s promises are “Yes” for you. They all apply to you. You can count on them. But what does it mean when God makes a promise? Vine’s Expository Dictionary says, “It frequently stands for the thing ‘promised’, and so signifies a gift graciously bestowed, not a pledge secured by negotiation.” God’s promises are gifts that He gives to us! That helps me trust more. Since it’s a gift, I can’t earn it. Gifts are freely given.
