2 Corinthians 1: 9 – When the Going Gets Tough

Imagine how much energy and peace of mind we would save if we went to God first.

2 Corinthians 1:9 – Indeed, we felt we had received the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead.

What are you facing today that seems impossible? When you have exhausted all your resources, who is left to help? The One who never leaves you. The One with infinite resources at His disposal. If it is a physical challenge, He heals the sick. If it is a financial challenge, He causes the resources to last long enough. If it is a dream that has almost vanished, He gives you the desires of your heart. If you can’t see how this could possible work out, He makes a way where there seems to be no way.

These things happen to us that we might not rely on ourselves but on God. It seems that as soon as I learn that lesson, I forget it and try in my own strength once again. I’m constantly having to learn to trust Him for the impossible. My “go to” way of solving problems is more like Dr. Strange. I stress about every possibility that I can come up with and try many of them until I’m blue in the face. And only then do I realize that God had a plan all along and all I needed to do was trust Him.

Imagine how much energy and peace of mind we would save if we went to God first, listened for His voice, and relied on His directions instead! Is there an impossibility that you are facing in your life today?

When all hope is gone remember that God can raise what is dead.
