2 Corinthians 2:15 – You Smell!

Do you smell like Jesus?

2 Corinthians 2:15 – For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.

It is estimated that the human sense of smell can detect over 1 trillion different scents. It is the first of our senses to develop while in the womb and allows us to detect our mother’s smell even from within the amniotic fluid where we begin life. Our sense of smell is closely related to our ability to remember and feel emotions as well. This is because in the human brain, the olfactory bulb is connected to the limbic system that is involved with our memories and emotions.

Do you smell like Jesus? Out of the 1 trillion scents that people could smell on you, do they recognize the aroma of Christ on you? The only way you will ever smell like Jesus is if you spend enough time with Him. I’m not going to smell like Him if I just say hi and walk away. I’m only going to carry His scent into my next interaction if I’ve been soaking in His presence. And that scent is going to fade if it has been a while since I’ve rubbed shoulders with Christ. It has to be a constant, daily interaction.

What do you smell like today? Or more importantly, who do you smell like?
