Colossians 1: 1 – We All Need Help

We all need a Paul or Timothy in our lives.

Colossians 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother,

We were not meant to do this life alone. Paul here is teamed with Timothy. We all need a Paul or Timothy in our lives to come along side us and work shoulder to shoulder to accomplish what God has called us to. Alone, we can only do so much, we can only be so effective, we can only minister to a fraction of those around us. And it sure is tiring working alone. It drags on you. With no one else to help shoulder the load the burden gets heavy fast.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 says it best, “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”

  • Is there a part of your life that you are trying to “go it alone”?
  • Do you need to seek out a Paul or Timothy to partner with in doing life together?
  • If Paul relied on other brothers to help him, what makes you think that you can do it all by yourself?
