Ephesians 6:16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
The King James starts this verse with “Above all”. Our shield of faith is perhaps the most important part of our armor. It is faith that overcomes. It is faith that gives us the victory. “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” 1John 5:4.
The enemy constantly sends his missiles of doubt in your direction. He tries to get us to doubt God’s Word, God’s goodness, and God’s faithfulness. He tries to get us to doubt our salvation, our inheritance, and our purpose. What darts of doubt has he sent in your direction lately?
When the attack comes, don’t lose your faith. Above all, keep hold of your faith. “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. … Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.” Hebrews 11:1, 33-34.
We serve the all-powerful, all-knowing, ever-present God. Your faith in Him is not misplaced. Nothing is impossible with God!
