Ephesians 6:11-12 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
One of the devil’s main schemes is to turn us against each other. If he can get us to attack each other then he just took us both out. My effort and energy are consumed with what others have done to me and I become ineffective in advancing the kingdom of heaven.
We are reminded here who our enemy is. It is not your wife, your kids, your neighbor, boss, or the guy that cut you off in traffic today. It is not even those that don’t believe in Jesus. Our enemy is not of flesh and blood. Our enemy is the devil and the spiritual forces that he controls. All the evil in the world ultimately comes from him.
In my flesh I cannot stand up against this enemy. He is not overcome by anything that I can come up with in my own strength. I can’t out think him. I can’t overpower him. I can’t out last him. “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds” 2Corinthians 10:4 and “Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD”. We overcome the devil “by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony” according to Revelation 12:11.
When the attack comes, stand strong in the Lord and in His mighty power!
