Ephesians 1:13-14 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.
This verse is a reiteration of the theme verse for Marked Men For Christ, 2 Corinthians 1:21-22 “Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.” We have been marked by God, sphragizo in the Greek meaning the signet ring of a king. God chose you and put His brand on you so there would be no doubt who you belong to. You are His! And with the king’s ring comes His authority. You have been given authority over all the power of the evil one (Luke 10:19). At the same time, He gave to us the promised Holy Spirit as a deposit, arrabon in the Greek meaning a down payment on something of great value. God values you so much that he put a down payment on you! Your inheritance as part of His family is guaranteed! He has made a deposit within you and one day He will ask for it back.
These statements are not just nice sounding, they are truth. You can count on them. So, how do we embrace the mark that is upon us? By stepping out in the authority that God has given to us in Christ and becoming the man or woman that God has called you to be. And how do we tap into the deposit of the Spirit within us and give God a return on His investment? By living for God’s glory and not ours, moving in His love as we accomplish the mission that He has placed in front of us. The mark upon you and the deposit within you are not there just for heaven. We are called to live out these truths today, everywhere we go, and with everyone we meet.
