Galatians 6:12-13 – Beware of Attack

There are people out there that want to bring you down.

Galatians 6:12-13 Those who want to impress people by means of the flesh are trying to compel you to be circumcised. The only reason they do this is to avoid being persecuted for the cross of Christ. Not even those who are circumcised keep the law, yet they want you to be circumcised that they may boast about your circumcision in the flesh.

There are people out there that want to bring you down only to say they could do it! They want to take you out, make you ineffective for God, or just cause you to stumble enough so that everyone sees the power they have over you. So, what are you going to do about it? When the temptation comes, when the smooth tongue of the deceiver whispers in your ear, are you going to be ready to stand firm in your convictions or are you going to fall?

This attack is not going to come when you are expecting it. We have to be ready in season and out. We are to put on the full armor of God, not just once, but daily. We are to crucify the flesh and sow to the Spirit continually. We are to do good at all times and to everyone. We are to look to Christ each step of the way. It is a constant battle and one that is never satisfied.

So, how can we be ready for it. There is a phrase in the middle of these verses that is the answer, “The Cross of Christ”. How can we overcome temptation? Look to the cross of Christ. How can we not be led astray by false teachers? Focus on the cross of Christ. How can we overcome our sinful nature? Take it to the cross of Christ. As Paul says in 1 Corinthians 2:2 “For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.” This is to be our battle cry every day, our mantra, our meditation, our hope.

So, focus on the cross of Christ and let it fill your heart and mind today. In this way, you will be ready when the world tries to pull you down.
